        AN-SOF ANTENNA SIMULATOR
-------------------------------------------------

Simulation of a folded dipole using curved wires at the dipole ends. The curved part is modeled exactly using conformal segments. AN-SOF applies the Conformal Method of Moments (CMoM) instead of the traditional MoM, which uses a straight wire approximation to curved wires.

The standard donut shaped radiation pattern is obtained with a small distortion. Folded dipoles are used to increase the radiation resistance of a standard half-wave dipole (about 75 Ohm). The input impedance of the folded dipole shows a real part near to 300 Ohm. The inductive input reactance is cancel out after connecting a lumped capacitor.

A 4:1 balun connected to the antenna terminals can be modeled by setting 4 x 75 = 300 Ohm as the VSWR Ref. Impedance in Setup tab > Settings panel. The VSWR obtained in this way will correspond to a matched 75 Ohm input impedance from the point of view of the voltage source.
